About Us
Learn more about who we are and what is Family Restoration Project One is.
The Family Restoration Project of Upon this Rock Ministries, Inc. (established 2016) is a wrap-around collaborative initiative of empowerment to help support the successful and safe transition of young fathers and mothers from detention, out-of-home placement, or incarceration to their families and communities. The goal is to reduce recidivism and promote public safety.
We provide the needed opportunities for regular, meaningful visitation, referrals to community resources, and other services that help families cope with incarceration and prepare for release and reunification. We strive to prevent the breakdown of relationships among those incarcerated and their families by providing regular, meaningful visitation, support, referrals, and education services.
Our programs help families and loved ones throughout the period of incarceration and also prepare families for a successful transition when the individual is released from prison back into our community. The Family Restoration Project’s ultimate goal is to create families that are safe, stable, and nurturing. Our overall strategy is to increase the capacity of families to care for their children and thereby be restored.
The Family Restoration Project provides Leadership development, Fatherhood programming, Family re-unification activities, Family outreach, Job readiness training, and Re-entry programs. The program looks to increase the likelihood of parental stability by focusing on relationship skills building for ex-offenders returning to the Westchester, Putnam, and Rockland county areas. The objective is that participants will show significant increases in their knowledge and use of effective communication skills, conflict resolution skills, effective intra-personal skills, emotional awareness skills, emotional expression skills, inter-personal skills, relationship management skills, relationship satisfaction, and relationship commitment.
The Family Restoration Project (FRP) is a restorative initiative with the aim of giving Returning Citizens a chance to be restored while simultaneously affording the greater community with the opportunity to enjoy safer neighborhoods in which to live. Returning citizens who gain employment are more than one-third less likely than their counterparts to recidivate and are more capable of turning their lives around for good. When this happens, our communities are safer, our economy is stronger, and we all can save money and live better.
Our Mission
To reduce recidivism and improve public safety in the community by unconditionally welcoming, serving, and coaching returning citizens, giving them hope and a future through addressing the educational, employment, housing, and family relationship needs of prisoners reentering society by providing support as well as connecting them to needed services.
Our Vision
Family Restoration Project’s vision is that not one citizen will return to a life of incarceration due to a lack of access to coaching, mentoring, community support, love, and a transformed life.
